Reading Tips & Ideas

Having Trouble Getting Your Kids to Read This Summer?

Try making them a special/magical spot for just reading. A corner, a closet, a tent in the yard, a blanket fort. Add fairy lights, pillows, blankets, stuffed animals. TADAH! How fun for a young reader to have a special spot to read in~! And as an added bonus, some quiet time during our busy & chaotic summer days. A win-win situation :)

Make sure you have plenty of reading materials on hand. Fiction and non-fiction, newspapers, magazines, quick & easy reads, chapter books. Even following directions when they help you in the kitchen making a meal. All these opportunities to read give your child(ren) and extra boost so needed. Don't let summer be all about going and doing. Quiet time and reading are just as important. Find out what they would like to read about (animals, comedy, historical figures, just to name a few) and check out books online (Amazon), the public library, MyOn. There is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored!

Happy summer reading!
