The Beehive

Hello & welcome to the Beehive (formerly the Media Center). Our Beehive is a buzz with activity of children reading, learning, and creating through books, the Creation Station, Lego Wall, Magnetic Wall, and the Graffiti Wall.

The BMES Beehive mission statement is to ensure that students develop critical thinking skills, are effective and ethical users of resources, ideas, and information, and are enthusiastic readers and lifelong learners!

Let us introduce ourselves:

Becca Johnsen, Media Specialist

Karen Morgan, Media Assistant

I have always been a huge reader. I have fond memories of going to my elementary school book fair - so excited to buy a book for my very own. I still have a few of those books and passed them down to my daughter when she was young.

I have worked in the BMES library for 9 years and have worked for Dawson County Schools for a total of 16 years and I absolutely LOVE my job! From helping students find a good book to read, to encouraging them to keep trying their best in school, to telling them silly jokes, I love to interact with "my" students every day.

I grew up in Michigan, but have lived in Georgia for the past 31 years. My husband and I moved to Dawsonville in 1986 and truly love our community. We have a 31 year old son, Corey, and a 21 year old daughter, Lizzie. My hobbies are reading ~ of course! ~ camping, and scrapbooking.

I look forward to helping your child(ren) find a book or two that will help them fall in love with reading and become a life long reader!
